reflection
Korea is only a modest-sized society; it has always been in the shadows of its larger neighbors China and Japan. The reason Korea is so important is because of its rich and well-documented historical heritage which adds to our knowledge of the human experience, its role in East Asia that gives insight into that important cultural tradition, its usefulness in understanding cross-culture interactions, its importance in understanding economic and social development, and the way Koreans viewed historical experiences is valuable for comparative studies.
The illustrations I used in this project show Korea’s beauty and their links to nature. I chose photos that were easy to explain and were very detailed and vivid to fit Korea’s unique culture. What I thought was interesting was the flag and how there was so much meaning behind it. This is a perfect example of how Korea always believed in nature, respect, and deep meaning. I thought it was a beautiful idea that Koreans never tried to interfere with nature and the way things were. They wanted to keep it that way. The way they respected elders and the way people always respected one another was an intriguing idea to me.
I would have loved to experience Korea because of their culture. Korean’s, in the beginning, were nomadic people. Later, Koreans settled and began to build their own culture but were influenced by China and Japan. Although Korea was always threatened, attacked, and defeated by outside peoples, they still maintained their own beliefs and values.
